Following the article in the Newsletter about how frost damages
plants, we need to understand how frost forms. It is the most limiting factor on gardens in our area.
If we understand how to avoid the worst of frost formation, we can grow many plants thought to be impossible to grow. The structure and orientation of the garden can be used to make microclimates and refuges for sensitive plants.
My garden was designed to minimise frost and summer heat as well. It has worked very well with only a few losses from frost. Most losses occured with the changing rain patterns rather than from frost.
