Jeremy Smith was a Team Leader on Macquarie Island when the eradication process was implemented in its first year.
He has put together a great summary of this important process and its difficulties in a remote and isolated environment. We received some valuable insight to the weather conditions, fauna and flora of this most significant island that has been an Australian responsibility for many years.
The processes learned in New Zealand have been used to great effect on this more challenging island with great success.
With minimal colateral damage to endangered native wildlife, it is pleasing to see such enthusiasm and responsible activities taking place.
